Connecting two infrastructure giants
We are Balfour Beatty and VINCI. Two huge organisations that have joined forces to deliver a vital part of an iconic infrastructure project that will bring a new level of connectivity to the UK.
It is HS2. It is Europe’s largest project of its kind.
And it will connect major cities, businesses, industries and 30 million people, reducing travel time from London to the North. Being part of it means that you will become better connected too.
The size, scale and scope of HS2 is immense. Our challenge is to design and build the largest section of HS2’s Phase One route. This covers about 90km from Long Itchington in Warwickshire, to the centre of Birmingham and on into Handsacre, in Staffordshire.
To deliver it we need talented people. Lots of them; from experienced engineers, ambitious graduates and apprentices to a wide range of professional service experts.
Together we will help design and build one of the biggest, most challenging projects we will see in our lifetime.

This is a unique engineering opportunity. It offers you the chance to make a lasting impact on the world around you. To put this into perspective, it includes:
- 37 viaducts totalling over 90km, 72 overbridges
- more than 34 cuttings reaching over 30km
- 56 culverts and other underbridges
- 63 embankments reaching over 30km
- building four motorway crossings requiring box structures and six interfaces with the existing rail requiring both dive-under and overbridge structures
